Gemini Nano Banana 2.1

MiniRouter and Gemini Nano Banana 2.1 by Google, separated by a silver fold of light on black.

Google's Nano Banana 2 update improves image quality, text rendering and consistency across edits, with 1K, 2K and 4K output.

Gemini Nano Banana 2.1 is not in MiniRouter’s catalog. This article covers the publisher’s announcement. Browse available models for current API access.

About the model

  • Image output: 1K · 2K · 4K. 1K is the default. Google reports fixes for tiling artifacts in 1:4, 4:1, 1:8 and 8:1 images at 2K and 4K.
  • References: Up to 14 images. Google documents character consistency for up to 4 characters and object fidelity for up to 10 objects.
  • Token limits: 131,072 in / 32,768 out. Google's native limits. Vercel lists a 131,072-token shared context and a 32,768-token output cap.
  • Predecessor: Nano Banana 2. Google's October 6 release notes deprecate gemini-3.1-flash-image, with shutdown scheduled for October 29, 2026.
  • Thinking: minimal · medium · high. Google documents medium as the default. Provider wrappers can expose different setting names.

Google publisher and Vercel provider pricing

Image costs are separate from text tokens. Google standard pricing lists $1.50/M input, $7.50/M text and thinking output, and $30/M image output: $0.0336 per 1K image, $0.0504 per 2K and $0.0756 per 4K. Vercel lists the same 1K/2K prices but $0.1134 per 4K image. Input, text output and search can add charges. These are upstream rates, not MiniRouter customer prices.

Before you use it

Google's native API accepts text, image, video and PDF input; Vercel advertises text and image input. These publisher capabilities do not establish MiniRouter support.

Google lists no function calling, structured outputs, caching, code execution, audio generation or Maps grounding for this model. Vercel's catalog tags differ; check the exact route before relying on a capability.

Google Web and Image Search grounding is supported natively. Search charges are separate; a single request may generate multiple billable searches.

All generated images include SynthID. Google's guide warns that the model may not return the exact requested number of images and cannot use real-world images of people from web search.

No independent benchmark score or MiniRouter image-generation availability is asserted. MiniRouter status follows its routable catalog.
